Fine Arts and Cultural Enhancement

The DI has a proud history of providing opportunities for creative nourishment to our clients. Through visual arts and music, we offer opportunities for homeless and marginalized Calgarians to express, experience and explore the healing power and inspiration of human creativity.

Art Tables Program

We are currently recruiting volunteers to help run the weekly Art Tables Program. The Art Tables will be set up every Saturday and Sunday from 2pm-4pm on the second floor of the DI. All DI clients are welcome to stop by the tables and create during this time. The Art Tables program allows our clients to express themselves artistically by providing them with visual art supplies and a space to be creative. If you are interested in volunteering to run the weekly art station please contact Bre at: breanne.hamper@gmail.com. If you are not able to volunteer on Saturday or Sunday between 2pm-4pm, please email Bre and we will try to arrange an alternative date/time to set up the art tables.

Community Wall Mural

We are currently looking for volunteers who have an artistic side and who are interested in contributing to the community mural on the second floor of the DI. A community mural is a collective work of visual art which is painted directly onto a wall! Local artists and DI staff have already started the mural and we are now looking to expand upon it. Volunteer responsibilities will include simply showing up and sharing your artistic talent with us! We will provide you with all of the necessary art supplies (paint, paintbrushes, etc.), however, if you would like to bring in your own personal supplies you are welcome to do that too.  If you are interested in contributing to our mural, please contact Bre at breanne.hamper@gmail.com who will arrange a time for you to come in. Please feel free to pass this message along to any of your artistic friends or family who may be interested in contributing to the mural.
