Marion
“The DI represents hope. During the few hours I spend at the DI on Saturday evenings, I have the opportunity to engage with clients who, in spite of often difficult life circumstances, show incredible determination and resilience. I am so grateful for the kindness they show me each week and the generosity and trust they demonstrate when they share their life stories with me. I dialogue with staff that are committed to making a difference in the lives of a population that is arguably our most stereotyped, stigmatized and marginalized. The love and grace they bring to this work reminds me that there are still many people who are committed to creating change. Finally, I see other volunteers who are, like me, trying to give a little bit back; who are trying to walk their talk. The DI is six floors of hope and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a volunteer.”
What DI staff had to say about Marion:
“Grace, humility, wit and a brilliant mind all wrapped up in one. She demonstrates an exemplary understanding of the human condition.”
