Both food and people could be found in abundance yesterday at the Calgary Drop-in and Rehab Centre.

Chowing Down - Good food was abundant.

Chowing Down - Good food was abundant.

Over 1,200 pancakes and 3,000 sausages were served to the homeless for breakfast, which kicked off the TAO Events Dawn ‘til Dusk Feeding Frenzy.

The lineups went all the way around the building for the all-you-can-eat meal.

“It’s creating an atmosphere of where everyone’s kind of at equal ground. Not ‘you’re homeless’ and ‘you’re a business executive,’” said Mark Powers, the manager of Volunteer Services at the drop-in centre.

Volunteers ranging from former clients of the centre to company managers cooked, handed out food and interacted with those in line.

That made an impression among those enjoying the meal.
