What Items Can I Donate? (Needs List)

We accept donations 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you would like to donate items, please drive through The DI’s gates, past the main entrance until you reach a loading dock. At the loading dock, please ring the buzzer. Staff will greet you and will help you unload your vehicle.

Unfortunately the DI does not have the resources to do any type of repairs or major cleaning to certain donated items. We can only take items that are not broken, torn, stained, worn, covered in animal hair/dander or are odorous.

Items that we do not accept and cannot be used are: fridges, stoves, freezers, dishwashers, pianos, large game tables, king size beds, rear projection televisions, televisions larger than 27″ and exercise equipment.

If you are interested in coordinating your own Group Donations Drive, simply post and/or distribute this Needs List to your Group, and bring all collected items with you, on your day of volunteering.

I was going to drive it to the dump (since there is no mattress recycling in Calgary), but if might be useful to you let me know and I will bring it to the Drop-in Centre instead.

  62. I know of quite a few bikes that may be fine to ride right away, but some may need some minor tuning or new tires/tubes, etc.

Would you be able to use these?

They are located in the inner-city.

Ideally someone could come and have a look at which bikes would be suitbale and then the rest would be recycled for the metal.

    • I used to be at the D.I. and they had a bike repair shop. they would take these old biks and refurbish/rebuild them and if you did some training in there they gave you a bike that would be yours. They still do this and it is a great program, with a great bicycle mechanic there teaching everyone the ins and outs of bike rebuilding. I am positive that they will take all and every thing that you have to offer, nothing goes to waste.
