On 10 January, we read the following blog post and wanted to share it with you.

Calgary Wedding Photography | Dolly & Mark

December 20th, 2012.  I was flipping MetroNews headline during my breaktime and I stumble upon this.

WEDDING BELLS TO CHIME AFTER CALGARY DROP-IN CENTRE CLIENT’S WISH GRANTED: They’ve only had a few days to plan, but it’s a wedding 14 years in the making.

(I would leave the rest of the story for you to check it out).

The moment I finished reading the story, I know I have to do something, I need to email the reporter, Katie. But I didn’t react on it because of the busy work in the afternoon. But some how the story kept lingering in my mind the entire day. It’s like a calling.

In the evening, I finally have time to sit down to write to Katie. To my disappointment, a prompt reply from Katie telling me how she wished I could have emailed her earlier because the wedding was actually that evening. My heart sank. I thought they were still planning the wedding and it’s suppose to be the following week. Further communication with the person in charge from The DI , they were actually trying to look for a photographer 45min prior the wedding.

Only if I have contacted them earlier!

The whole evening, I was preying so hard that someone will take a photo of them on their wedding, with whatever camera available, or at least  with a cell phone camera, please! It’s a happy moment that cannot be missed, they deserve it all.

But I kept my offer, volunteering myself to do a photo session with them. After all the connections with the staff in The DI and finally spoke to Dolly, we did it.

Dolly & Mark probably are the most wonderful, natural and easiest clients that I have ever worked with. The chemistry and interaction between them are just so influential, they are just so STRONGLY in love. Yes, STRONGLY is the right word, especially after hearing their life stories for the past 14 years, it’s probably the most compelling real life love story that I have ever heard.

… for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health … they have pretty much been through it all.

I know how grateful they are that they have finally tied the knot, it’s the biggest dream came true for both of them, thanks to all the good Samaritans sponsoring and volunteering to put together this wedding all within a week. In fact, it’s pretty much the most well known news in Calgary the next day. Check out the stories here, here and here.

I asked them, when was the last time you both had a proper photo together. They said it was 7 years ago, but they have lost everything when they lost their home 7 years ago, all they have are just memories.

I really have a lot more stories to share about them, too many, and it’s very inspirational. However,  I will just stop here and left you with the photos. Feel free to be in touch with me, I am more than happy to share my experience with you over coffee.

I hope you all enjoy this new post of the year, a compelling real life love story that touches my heart so deeply. I wish them all the best in their future life, living happily together.
