Come join RAW Salvage founder Dale Herrington and other Calgary poets, writers, spoken word enthusiasts for an evening of inspiration.

The first real life spoken words and poets of 2011 will be held Wednesday, January 12 from 7 to 9:00pm at the DI in the Multi-Purpose Room on the sixth floor. This will be an organizational/planning meeting.

The following Wednesday, January 19, a ‘writer’s workshop’ will be held and on the 26th, a night of real life spoken words and poets podcast will take place.

real life spoken words and poets will meet three times a month on Wednesday nights for the rest of the year with the first meeting being organizational/planning, second meeting writing workshop and third meeting readings and podcasts.

The scheduled dates for the rest of the year are as follows. All meetings take place from 7 to 9pm on the sixth floor of the DI in the MP room :

The objectives for real life spoken words and poets are:

  • to provide individuals an opportunity to connect with others interested in poetry/prose writing
  • to create a ‘sacred space’ for writing and sharing to take place
  • to inspire each other
  • to hone our creative/poetry writing skills
  • to polish our spoken word offerings
  • to provide a venue to share written words through spoken words both in the ‘real’ world and virtual communities through podcasts
  • create a platform upon which monthly ChapBooks can be published
  • to create a body of work from which an anthology can be published.
